Wholemeal Scones - Recipe


225g (80z ) wholemeal flour pinch of salt
1/2 x 5ml (1/2 tsp ) cream of tartar
50g (20z ) margarine or butter
25g ( 10z ) sugar
75g ( 30z ) currants
150ml ( 1/4pt ) milk
1x size 3 egg- beaten

How to make:

1. Sieve the flour, salt and cream of tartar into a bowl, mix together rub the fat into the flour add the sugar and dried fruit.
2. Gradually add the milk until a soft consistency is reached. Form the mixture into a ball.
3. Roll out the mixture into a 20cm (8") 1/2-1cm (1/4-1/2") thick. Mark into even even portions. Brush with the beaten egg.
4. Place on a greased heat glass flan dish. place on low rack. Cook for 8-10 minutes on SIMUL  ( DUAL) CONVEC (on 230 degree celsius microwave LOW ) Glaze the wholemeal scone with honey -if re- quired.
