Basic White Sauce - Recipe


25g (loz) butter or margarine
25g (loz) plain flour
300m1 (1/2pt) milk
salt and pepper

Basic White Sauce - Recipe

 How to make:

1. Place butter or margarine in a bowl or jug and heat for 30 se-conds on HIGH until melted.

2. Stir in flour and blend in milk.

3. Heat for 21/2-3 minutes on HIGH until thickened. Whisk until smooth. Season.


Cheese Sauce: Stir in 75g (3oz) grated cheese and 1 x 5m1 (1 tsp) made mustard into finished sauce.
Mushroom Sauce: Stir in 50g-100g (2-4oz) lightly cooked thinly sliced mushrooms into finished sauce.
Parsley Sauce: Stir in 1-2 x 15ml (1-2 tbsp) chopped pars-ley into finished sauce.
Onion Sauce: Stir in 1 large boiled and finely chopped onion into finished sauce.
Sweet White Sauce: Omit salt and pepper from basic sauce, stir in sugar to taste.
